Safe Space Play Therapy in Cheadle, Stockport.

Hello I am Lucy Taylor and I am a Child & Family Therapist. I specialise in Play Therapy and support children and their families to build stronger and happier relationships.

I provide specialist play therapy and family support for children who have experienced trauma, attachment difficulties, or other emotional challenges. For children under twelve, verbalising feelings can be difficult, and play becomes their natural way of communicating. In a safe, nurturing, and non-judgmental environment, children are free to explore their thoughts and emotions through puppets, sand trays, small world figures, role play, creative arts, and movement.

As a person-centred therapist, I follow each child’s lead, observing their play and behaviours to understand their experiences from their perspective. This allows me to provide tailored support, helping children develop resilience, confidence, and healthier ways of expressing themselves.

I also work closely with parents and carers, offering psychoeducation, emotional support, and practical strategies to understand and respond to their child’s needs. This collaborative approach helps families navigate the challenges of trauma and attachment difficulties together, creating stronger connections and a supportive home environment.

My goal is to provide a safe space for children and families to heal, grow, and develop tools for managing emotions, improving communication, and fostering long-term wellbeing.

Play Therapy:

Play therapy helps children express feelings they may find hard to put into words. Through toys, creative arts, role play, and movement, children explore their experiences in a safe, nurturing environment. Guided by a person-centred approach, therapy supports emotional growth, resilience, and healthier ways of communicating.

Therapeutic Parenting:

Therapeutic therapy provides a safe, confidential space for children and families to explore emotions and experiences. It supports processing trauma, managing anxiety, building self-esteem, and developing coping strategies. Through compassionate, personalised guidance, therapy fosters emotional growth, resilience, and healthier relationships in a nurturing environment.

DDP Informed:

(Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) DDP-informed therapy supports children with trauma and attachment difficulties. Through a compassionate, relational approach, it helps children feel safe, understood, and connected, while strengthening bonds, building resilience, and fostering healthier communication between children and their carers in a nurturing environment.

Sessions can be held on-line or face to face. I have a therapy room based at Sovereign House in Cheadle.
